How-to, Tips, and Tricks for Lamp Restoration

Antique Brass Lamp Restoration

Let's put on our scuba gear and plunge into the mysterious depths of undiscovered treasures and restore these antique brass lamps. When this ancient relic of a project waltzed into my workshop, I couldn't help but wonder, "Were these dazzling lamps chilling at the bottom of the ocean for the past century?" (giggle.) With all their fancy swirls and twists, I pondered, how in the world am I going to scrub off all that grime and rust? But fear not, for in my workshop, problems are just opportunities for wacky solutions! So, I suited up in my "mad scientist" gear and dove into some crazy experiments. And voilà! Behold the magic - I unearthed some nifty tricks to restore these gems to their former glory, shining brighter than a pirate's treasure!

Before you head out, make sure to watch a cool time-lapse video of the whole thing, below!

Tip #1 - Use WD-40 on Antique Brass Lamp

That's right, folks, I said it! Use WD-40. Spray it on the brass lamp and let it set. Bid farewell to grime and grease that has been accumulating on the lamps for years, decades, or sitting in old, damp, high-moisture areas. Apply the process as many times as needed!

Tip #2 - Clean WD-40 off of the Brass Lamp

Hey, I see you're eager to make those beauties sparkle, but they might need a bit more TLC before they're ready. So, what's the plan? Next up, use Dawn dish soap and a tough scrub pad to remove the WD-40. Give the lamps a good scrub with lukewarm water, then rinse them off. Once they're all clean and dry, it's time to start polishing!
